Delete your account
Last updated: 20 September 2026
You can permanently delete your Liberia Works account and the personal data held with it. This page explains who can request deletion, what is removed, what the Ministry of Labour is required to keep, and how to make the request — including if you have already uninstalled the app.
1. Who can request deletion
Any Liberia Works account holder may request deletion of their own account. Job seekers can start it themselves — in the app, or on this website under Profile. Employer users cannot yet start it themselves and should contact the support team (see below). If you can no longer sign in, or have uninstalled the app, the support route applies to you too. A request is only acted on once we have confirmed it came from the account holder.
The two routes differ only in how the account is closed. When you start the deletion yourself, it closes immediately. A request through support is handled by the Ministry of Labour team: they will first confirm it is you, then close the account and tell you when it was closed and when erasure is due. From the moment the account is closed, both routes follow the same timetable in section 2 — a 30-day window, then erasure without anyone having to do anything. If you are able to sign in, the in-app or website route in section 4 is the quickest.
Three situations cannot be completed straight away. If your account is the only remaining administrator for an employer, that role has to be transferred to someone else first — otherwise the employer would be left with nobody able to manage it. If your account is the last remaining Ministry super-administrator, it cannot be closed at all until another super-administrator is in place, because the platform cannot be left without one. And if your account has no password set, deletion has to go through support, because the in-app route confirms your identity with your password.
2. What happens when you delete
Deleting your account closes it immediately — this ends access at once, signs you out of every device, and prevents you from signing in again. Your account then enters a 30-day reactivation window, during which you can reopen it yourself with your email address or phone number and your password, or ask the support team to reopen it for you. (An account the Ministry closed while it was suspended can only be reopened by the support team.) After 30 days your personal information is permanently erased and cannot be recovered: your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, national identification number, home address, your education, work history and skills, the documents you uploaded to your profile (such as your CV), the jobs you saved and the work preferences you set.
3. What is kept, and why
Records that form part of an official Ministry of Labour employment or compliance process are kept as part of that record — for example, a document you attached to a job application you submitted, or to a work permit. Those records are retained as part of the Ministry’s official files; the personal identifiers on your account are still erased. Messages you sent to employers, files attached to them, and your answers on job applications stay with that employer. Notifications and security logs (the IP address and browser used when you signed in) are also kept. An account that the Ministry has suspended as an enforcement action is not erased while it remains suspended, so the record of that action is preserved. If the Ministry then closes a suspended account, it is erased 30 days after it is closed, like any other closed account.
4. Delete from inside the app
On the phone app, open Settings → Delete account and follow the prompt. On this website, sign in and open Profile in the side menu, then the Security section, where Delete my account is at the bottom. Either way you will be asked for your password to confirm it is you. This is the same deletion described above — immediate closure, a 30-day reactivation window, then permanent erasure.
5. Request deletion without an account
If you have uninstalled the app or can no longer sign in, email the Ministry of Labour support team at [email protected] and ask to have your account deleted. Tell us the phone number or email address on the account so we can find it. We will then send a confirmation to that phone number or email address and wait for your reply before closing anything — we do not act on the address in the incoming message alone, because otherwise anyone who knew your number could ask for your account to be destroyed. You can also reach the team through our contact page. You do not need to be able to sign in to ask — but we will always confirm with you first.
Once the team has confirmed the request, they close the account, and from then on it follows the same timetable as section 2: your personal information is erased 30 days after the account is closed. We will tell you when the account is closed and when erasure is due. What is kept is the same either way: the records described in section 3 remain part of the Ministry’s official files.
